Ok, ok...I have heard this "6" reffered to before by military types. As in"watch your six" or "I've got your six covered".
What does that mean?
12o'clock is staightahead, 6 (oclock) is BEHIND you.

It means watch your rear end. Your 12 o'clock is your forward, your six is your rear. As in, the six is in the rear, if you got a problem go talk to him. HEHE.
6 = backside. The face of a clock is the shorthand for points of a compass or degrees of elevation, 12 being dead ahead or straight up in the vertical.
But I was a grunt...watching "our six" was watching behind us...
