I am SO ANGRY and want to know if this is above the law. My husband just went by a neighbors home and they have BUSH with a dagger in his heart on their lawn.!!!! IS THIS LEGAL and is there any suggestions as to what can be done. HOW LOW are the DEMOCRATS STOOPING!!!!!!!!
Call the FBI, threats against the President are taken very seriously.
I couldn't get back there before dark and take a better close up of the sign. It was something to the effect of " Guess the " Mystery" of who is hanging from the tree"...DUHHHH.....all around the De-Feat Bush stickers...who else!!! I guess the secret service could disquise themselves, and ask, who is that supposed to be??? and when he says Bush, CLAMP go the handcuffs.....oh wishful thinking.
hadn't thought about the PRESS!! But being Los Angeles, I don't think they would cover it unless it was Kerry/Edwards.....and then they would have a major arrest on their hands and RIOTS too!!!
Re: the press. Is the Orange Co. Register still conservative? If it's a slow night they might want something to do.
It's called an effigy. A ancient form of political speech.
It's not enough to vote for Bush -- we have to also relearn and train ourselves to be free men and women again. Without that zest and drive for Liberty -- and the abiding and deep respect for the that same freedom in each other -- even when it disgruntles us -- we will have lost.
If it's talked up enough, they'll bite -- local news has one mandate: "If it bleeds, it leads."
If you've got a particular reporter/station who gets on these kinds or stories, go after them first.
Good of you to remember Freedom, being from the land of the Magna Carta, Blackstone and William Penn's Trial with Jury Foreman Robinson -- those the near sources of most of our freedoms. Seems many here forget what Liberty means!
What you have here is incitement to riot, not a ancient form of protest.
Two decades ago it was not even thought of to use a president as a billboard advertisement or the butt of night time TV jokes.
That's where your respect went, down the tube with the death of common courtesy. Enter yea now into the lack of morality zone where everything and anything goes!
Liberty my foot!
Less than a bottle of octane booster.
As a halloween decoration? That's ridiculous!
Halloween decoration, mardi gras floats, these are places and times when the outlandishly disturbing or inflamatory becomes common.
And to speak of incitement to riot! That has long been used to supress FREE SPEECH. Go read up on the Trial of William Penn. Go and learn the amazing courage of a jury of real men committed to Liberty.
AND ... well within the bounds of Liberty and political speech as our forfathers understood them. How should we understand those bounds? In some manner less free than our founding forefathers?
You need a few semesters of Authoritarian School!
What ever happened here? Inquiring minds want to know.
Hi..is it gone?
Hi pollywog - what happened last night? Did the police ever show up?
Haven't heard from Pollywog about what happened last night re: Bush w/Dagger but thought y'all would enjoy this!
Liberals are such losers!
Left-wing Blogger Received a Visit From the Secret Service

a word to the wise
For all my LJ-loving friends, this is a word of warning, a word to the wise, and a word of utter exhaustion after the wringer I've been put through in the last twenty-four hours.
A couple of weeks ago, following the last presidential debate, I said some rather inflammatory things about George W. Bush in a public post in my LJ, done in a satirical style. We laughed, we ranted, we all said some things. I thought it was a fairly harmless (and rather obvious) attempt at humor in the face of annoyance, and while a couple of people were offended, as is typical behavior from me, I saw something shiny and forgot about it, thinking that the whole thing was over and done and nothing else would come of what I said.
I was wrong.
At 9:45 last night, the Secret Service showed up on my mother's front door to talk to me about what I said about the President, as what I said could apparently be misconstrued as a threat to his life. After about ten minutes of talking to me and my family, they quickly came to the conclusion that I was not a threat to national security (mostly because we are the least threatening people in the entire world) and told me that they would not recommend that any further action be taken with my case. However, I do now have a file with the FBI that includes my photograph, my e-mail address, and the location of my LJ. This will follow me around for the rest of my life, regardless of the fact that the Secret Service knows that I am not a threat.
Obviously, I cannot link to the original LJ post that I made, because I have removed it from my LJ to protect myself and those who commented in that thread from receiving any further visits from the FBI. I apologized for the miscommunication, though I did *not* apologize for voicing my opinion of George W. Bush. I will never apologize for speaking my mind. I will, however, apologize when I say something wrong way and for unintentionally offending/threatening someone, because I am an extremely nonviolent person.
After having consulted an attorney to make sure that speaking about what happened to me will not incur another visit from the Secret Service, I am making this public post to tell you all several things:
1. Once and for all, I want to state for the record, again: I am a nonviolent person. As I told the Sekkrit Service last night, I don't know how to operate a gun. I've never had any military training. I don't even know how to throw a punch. I failed gym. I duck and cover when threatened with violence. I've said before that I could never join the military because I would totally start crying and wuss out and be the worst soldier ever, not because I want to sabotage the government, but because I'm just not cut out for it.
excerpted blog...
Well I went to a private Authoritarian School and they were so afraid to kick me out that I had to up and leave on my own.
OK.........I will leave you alone for today!:-)
