Watching the way the "missing arms" story evolved reminds me of the old newspaper axiom, if there is no news..go out and make some. When the "United Nations Leak" first broke in the New York Times, it supposedly "proved" that Bush was a bad president because of the media-installed template of this election. "The President is responsible for ANYTHING the media says he should be responsible for. For example, car bombings and looting are HIS RESPONSIBILITY." (I don't remember FDR being "blamed" for D-Day deaths. Perhaps his generals made some wrong moves, but armchair quarterbacking is only beneficial to military tacticians. Saying The President was responsible in this instance is like saying FDR should have had better intel and attacked further North. THAT'S NOT HIS JOB!!!!) Everybody knows this "News Story" was released for one reason only....TO HURT THE PRESIDENT. So the mud was thrown, and the press waited expectantly to see whether it would stick.. "Ah, it stuck!" they exclaimed with glee. It only stuck because Bush isn't like previous presidents who would deny first and check with the facts later. It stuck because of a false premise- that presidents are responsible for whatever the press say they're responsible for. But be consoled...every liar will ultimately be judged by a heavenly court, and he who digs a pit will fall into it.
How many times are you going to post this?
