No. NBC did it because they had to. The blogs would have scooped them, and they are in it to make money. They wanted to set the table on this not the bloggers. Smart move by NBC IMHO.

Certainly there's enough threads on this subject you didn't have to post a vanity to get this point across? But since it's here ... NBC told the truth on this one - they had a reporter who was there and rather than keeping silent they actually did what journalists are supposed to do - reported what they saw and heard. Where's the point in slamming them or looking for a hidden agenda when they do what we've been asking all along for them to do?

" Could they be trying to crash Kerry's campaign for the Clintons or even at the behest of the Clintons?"

What you should be asking is :"Could they be trying to do their jobs as journalists for a change?"

If the New York Times is reporting lies, shouldn't NBC call the New York Times out?
And why should Couric let Hanoi John get away with his obvious lies in her interview of him?
No conspiracy here. Just plain facts.

Whatever anyone wants to say about NBC, they helped the President greatly this time. Despite the story being total BS, we would have had to hear about it until Nov. 2.

Of the four liberal networks (ABC, NBC, ABC, CNN), NBC tries the hardest to be fair (not that it's saying much, mind you :-)

There may be some truth in the notion that behind the scenes there is a palpable tension between the clintonistas and the kennedy/kerry operatives. Dems. are generally more concerned about their personal ambitions and agendas than Republicans. My guess is that there are heavy internal tensions at the DNC. How to capitalize on that is another question.
