The Shawnee are recognized as a tribe by the US government and their descendents are still around.

Ah, they're making this stuff up.

The idea that somebody wrote Tecumseh's words down verbatim is nonsense. This story didn't start circulating until years later when somebody noticed the coinkidink of the "0" years - and somebody else remembered that Tecumseh cursed as he went down. (Well, duh, did they think he would say, "Thank you sir. May I have another?")

Just embroidery on a coincidence. Reagan broke it anyhow.

Another silly coincidence: Kennedy was shot on my sister's birthday. Reagan was shot on my birthday. My dad said he's glad he didn't have any more kids, or we'd have presidents dropping like flies . . .

Everything goes thru God. These presidents living or dieing was his will. The Indians were treated wrong and I can understand the anger but I hope today that they pray with us for our president's safety.

No mention that Tecumseh was a racist rejected by his own people the Shawnee and expelled from the tribe. Instead the Shawnee chief Blackfoot opposed Tecumseh and sought to live in harmony amongst and within the framework of the United States. But thanks to the actions of the white-hating racist Tecumseh the remaining peaceful Shawnee were expelled from the Ohio valley. I'm part Wyandot and of those who remained free in Ohio descended in part from Blackfoot through one of his nieces. The Shawnee, Delaware and Wyandot did engage in inter-tribal marriages. That's what I know of Tecumseh, the white-hating racist. Only a small minority of Indians joined up with Tecumseh. He was not Great. Just another leftist historical revisionist myth, an Indian version of David Duke.

Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest. God bless our President.

All of Tecumseh's prophecies came from his nutty brother, who was a drunk and a liar, and a false spiritual leader.

I can't remember his name. He was loco.

I would have to agree. I have read a lot about Tecumseh ("Panther in the Sky") and have never heard of the "curse" before. Strange that all of the historians would miss out on this amazing curse. Tecumseh was a great Chief, though. He learned fluent english as a youth from Blue Jacket, a white man captured by the Shawnee as a boy and raised by the Shawnee to become a respected Chief in his own right.

Tecumseh had no inate "hate" for the white man and developed friendships with many whites. (including the Galloway family who are rumored to have told Tecumseh about an upcoming elclipse providing him with the info to make his famous prophecy about the sun disappearing at noon on a specific day). Tecumseh worked to keep his tribe away from alcohol and ended the use of torture as a form of entertanment for the tribe. He considered it unmanly to torture a captured opponent. Also, Tecumseh tried to negotiate with Harrison and his predecessors until he finally decided it was useless.

If you would like to learn more about Tecumseh and the famous frontiersman Simon Kenton, check out "The Frontiersman" by Alan Eckert. It's written as a narrative story, but is highly researched and footnoted. It reads like an Indiana Jones story, but it's all true.

One of my ancestors was in a skirmish with Tecumseh around 1789 or so when some Shawnee warriors attacked the small settlement on the frontier of western Virginia where he lived.

As my ancestor and the other men fired at them, Tecumseh and the other warriors captured a woman and her small children who lived in a cabin nearby and took them into the woods before scalping and tomahawking them to death.

check out "The Frontiersman" by Alan Eckert.

I read that. It's great! I have several other Alan Eckert books but haven't found time to read them yet. Those books are real history, they're not touched up to make anyone look good. Or bad.

Lets throw a few others in here which might break up the 20 year cycle using the same principals.

The attempted murder of Andrew Jackson by a nut. His pistols misfired.
The shooting of Theodore Roosevelt. He still made his speach.
The atttempted murder of Franklin D Roosevelt. Chicago Mayor Cermak was killed instead.
The attempted murder of Harry Truman by Puerto Rico terrorists. They shot up the congress instead.
