It's not just the newbies, but everyone thinks they have to comment on:

1) Something they just saw on TV.
2) Something they just heard on the radio.
3) Something their gut has instinctively told them to share. ( I bet if they listened a bit longer, they would have heard "FEED ME YOU IDIOT. I'M HUNGRY!")
4) Something their wife, daughter, dog, imaginary friend, or fried chicken has just told them.
5) Something they believe that the rest of us care about. (Honestly! We don't.)
