Just wanted to add my .02 about this movie. It was one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen. Kim Jong Il was priceless, especially when he became mad. The songs were great. One song had lyrics like "America, f*@* yeah!" I simply cannot say anything taht will do this movie jsutice. I will have to see it again. The message was great, as these guys can deliver a great message. Be prepared for swearing, but not as bad as South Park, The movie.
I left the movie uncertain whether it was more funny than profane, or profane than funny. I have to say, the profane has stuck with me longer. They could have cut way down on the F-bombs and a couple of incredibly gross scenes and it would only have made the film more watchable. There were some absolutely priceless moments in that movie... "collateral damage" in France and Egypt... the patriotic country song on the jukebox... the "dirka dirka allah jihad" stuff... watching the leftist actors get their comeuppance... there was a lot of very witty stuff mixed in with the South Park gross-out junk.
It was a bit of a letdown to me. I think they should have included a little less four-letter-word humor (it got a bit stale after a while) and a little more gags. The concept though was great, especially the songs. Loved "montage".
ya talked me into it...
Too bad it doesn't seem to be the blockbuster some were hoping it would become.
Radio guy Phil Hendrie, who does some voices in the film, said they did not market it well enough. Said the film would do better if they had pushed the pro war, anti Hollywood aspect of the film. Instead they made it look like just an action/adventure movie with puppets.
I love the idea of using puppets as actors--that in itself manages the statement that there's nothing inside the heads of flesh-puppet actors...
Matt Damon!
The swearing wasn't near as bad as I expected. It took a long time for it to even start.
It was a good movie.
Just for info, the South Park guys did this mostly as a freebie. They had to eat their fees to get it greenlighted, then had to give up most of their back end money because it went over budget.
I also claim extra points because the theater was in the People's Republic of Cleveland Heights. Now to to to McDonalds and attend religious services at Temple to completely piss off and opress the third world. And loving it!
