yep - that is why my wife and i sacrifice greatly to have our kids in one. better education and responsive to parents on issues of accountability and level and quality of education

My wife is a public school teacher, and our kids go to public schools, so I know that some of the criticisms (bad teachers,poor curriculum, etc) are absolutely true. However, they have a task that is quite difficult, educating some students who are not very bright, have no support from home, and an administration that is more concerned with funding than academic achievement.

Still, there are some very dedicated teachers in public schools, you just have to try hard to find them. And then, a parent must be very vocal about making sure their children get into a good classroom.
