May I suggest an alternate site for you to enjoy if you decide we are too far right here, or that we don't provide enough debate? conservativeunderground.com allows all persuasions to join...word of warning-don't insult the owner!! He gets mean!! Also...a warning about the language differences... CU is alot like DU...lots of cursing!!

Well all of us ladies are newly mined 18 year olds and all the foxy gents are 28 and filthy rich, LOL

It really runs the gamut. There are junior high and high school posters and there are FReepers in their 70s. I think most of us would fall somewhere between the ages of 25 and 50.

Last I heard, there were tens of thousands of registered FReepers. I think if you move your mouse on your screenname in a post it will show a number--your registration number.

Nope, that just shows sign on date. TC, do you know how to see someone's registration number?

Click on your user name. Then at your profile page, click on "In Forum." Up at the top in the address line, it will show at string like this: "http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/user-posts?id=47569"
The number after id= is the user number. Yours is 47,569.

(I just learned this recently :-).

Gun Control. Constitutional violation.

"I want to agree with you on this one, but I'm not sure its practical. I do think that criminals are going to get weapons no matter what ... so gun control is not the best policy for combating that. More police/prosecution, etc, is better. However, I'm not comfortable with making assault weapons, I'm taking AK47's, etc, available to anyone without any sort of background check, etc. "

Time to establish your bona fides.

Explain in 5 sentences the difference between an automatic , a semi automatic, a wheel gun, a shot gun and a rifle.

Welcome aboard.

One thing you may notice about us here - Freepers have nicer legs than practically any other forum.

dubyaismypresident,

So independent are you decided on the presidential election?

Well, no. I almost feel like not voting at all. I don't like either of the candidates. I'm going to vote because I feel that I should -- but I'm just trying to sort out which one is going to do the least harm to our country.

Welcome to FR.

Where do you stand on the issues?

Abortion
Borders
RKBA
Communism
Smaller Government
The ACLU
The War against Jihadists
The UN
Conservationism

That should be a good start to give us some perspective, since you are new and you have the spotlight...Thanks in advance (TIA)

Hey TAS,

Thanks for the welcome :)

Explain in 5 sentences the difference between an automatic , a semi automatic, a wheel gun, a shot gun and a rifle.

An automatic could kill ~600 people in a minute. A semi-automatic could kill ~40 people in a minute. A wheel gun could kill ~6-12 people in a minute. A shotgun could kill around ~6 people in a minute. A rifle -- depends on the kind of rifle, but perhaps more than ~12.

That's 5 sentences. No single citizen needs to be able to kill 600 people in a minute.

Hey ApesForEvolution,

Thanks for the welcome.

Abortion
Ban abortions after the first trimester, uncertain before that -- but some kind of options should be available.

Borders
Haven't formed an opinion yet.

RKBA
Don't know what this is. But I'll probably look it up now that you asked me :).

Communism
Likely impossible to truly implement. True communism would be utopia -- as it would be "no government because no government is necessary." The communists of this world have always been (and continue to be) facist socialists or totalitarians, not true communists.

Smaller Government
Whenever its practical, I'm all for it. Only use government if its the most efficient or practical means by which to get something accomplished.

The ACLU
Uh, don't really have an opinion. I'm quite pro-civil rights, but I don't know how I feel about the ACLU.

The War against Jihadists
I'm anti-terrorism? I'm not sure what other opinion there is to hold here. The UN
No real opinion formed. Seems like a weak institution, but I'm not sure if that's because we don't do more to help it succeed or for some other reason.

Conservationism
Is this environmental conservationism? If so, I'm for protecting the environment, but I'm not anti-employment. I think we ought to eliminate our reliance on foreign oil and create new jobs with new fuel technologies that are cleaner and safer.

You're welcome and thank you. I appreciate you already.

I'll detail a better response and if you care to expand, great! I have to run and will pop in over the weekend.

RKBA=Constitutional Right to Keep and Bare Arms

And, you are part of the solution, IMO - and that starts with BY ALL MEANS keeping sKerry/rEdwards OUT of the WH.

Did you vote for Clinton ('92 or '96) or algore '00?

Thanks again, very much...blessings, AFE

AFE,

Thanks for the kind words :).

RKBA
I don't like the idea of fully-automatic guns getting into anyone's hands without any sort of background check. I'd say that's practically about it for me. I don't think broad gun control is the solution to crime, or that it fits well with the second amendment.

Did you vote for Clinton ('92 or '96) or algore '00?
Well, I wasn't old enough to vote in '92 or '96, and I voted for Bush in '00.
