Great story. For some reason it reminds me of Charles Portis, The Dog of the South. Just the deadpan honesty.
Also reminds me a lot of the letters I used to get at my old magazine job, uh, the one I told you about. ;) I forgot to tell you about some of the real doozies they were.

And the magnesium block was left at home the day I got the R24 to light up...

(R24 burns really weird, the flame ends up with greenish hues.)
