Might want to bring the tech guy in for this question. I would think that growing the keywords beyond 20 characters would mean a significant increase in the size of the database. We're at, what, 1,243,128 posts?

Not sure how the software is set up to handle these things, but if every post's keywords increased in size by the amount, that's a significant piece of digital real estate.

Keywords should be set up independently from the thread table - it doesn't need to exist for every thread.

But it is correct, depending on the database and how keywords are set up, allowing for longer keywords would have a slight hit on DB efficiency/performance. Likely nothing that would break it, but it wouldn't help any.
