This whole point is moot- Lloyd Bentson didn't actually know and certainly wasn't friends with JFK, but it didn't matter.

They may have met But what about Edwards is memorable? Was it his soft handshake? or the smell of his Perfume?

Being in the same room with someone and meeting someone are two different things - were they introduced? Did they talk? This is just spin! The point is, Cheney has been to the Senate, Edwards has almost always been "gone" (on his 4 year campaign trail), and therefore the first time he actually met with Edwards is at the debate tonight.
To: snooker
I love that line
Senator Gone
The president of the senate really put that senator in his place tonight
To: Bogey78O
He does jest, and don't call him Shirley.

These Washington prayer breakfasts are massive affairs. 3,000 people eating breakfast. Unless they were at the same end of the same table, it is unlikely that they met.

I just saw a clip of Edwards talking to a crowd after the debate saying more or less Cheney was lying and Mrs. Edwards set him straight after the debate right up there on the stage by reminding him they had both been in attendance at some swearing in ceremony and he sat next to him at another event.
Amazing how MRS. Edwards recalled those events but they completely slipped MR. Edwards mind when he had a chance to rebut that remark during the debate.
To: An American!
It does not mean they met each other in the course of doing Senate work

"This whole point is moot"
The MSM may not think so. They have been spinning this since the debate ended.
To: An American!
Wow! They were actually in the SAME BUILDING at the SAME TIME? Heck, they are practically old college roommates.

The point: John Edwards wasn't there at the Senate doing his job!!!!!!!

"The MSM may not think so. They have been spinning this since the debate ended."
Of course the MSM will TRY to spin this; it was a devastating line. However, they cannot spin away the effect the line has.

John Edwards is so forgettable. I don't blame Cheney for thinking he had never met the insignificant pipsqueak.

"Now, in my capacity as vice president, I am the president of the
Senate, the presiding officer. I'm up in the
Senate most Tuesdays when they're in session. The first time I ever met you was when you walked on the stage tonight."
Media whores: "But he briefly met him someplace besides the Senate... once."

Mike McCurry rushed on a news program to state that they had met at some social occasion in N. Carolina honoring Liz Dole.
I guess it was one of those things where Cheyney didn't realize the youngster he was introduced to was a Senator and blew it off. Probably thought Edwards was a politics groupie.
But it was a telling blow, pointing up how Edwards hadn't been tending to business in the Senate.
