The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Way to be! That will be a thrill, for all concerned...scouts, jedis, moms, and troops.

Enjoy!

Couldn't watch it at first (can't stand to listen to the Dork) but watching it now. I think GW has done well.

Heh, it made me laugh out loud... I thought the Pres looked very relaxed. I think he does better when he has an audience in front of him that he can connect with.

the consensus on the live thread is that W has done a great job... and they're sometimes a tough audience...

I'll try to catch a replay later.

Apparently the take-away quote is "Want some wood?"

Not sure what that means. But it works on t-shirts.

I just bought my official Bush/Cheney t-shirt yesterday...after the next trip thru the laundry I was going to get some letters added...I was leaning toward "SERIESLY STUNED"...but I think "WANT SOME WOOD?" is better.

See my tagline!

Doofus made some remark about GW deciding something based on money he got from a lumber company... GW responded, "I own a lumber company? I didn't know that!" then he moved towards Charlie Gibson (the moderator) and asked him, "Need some wood?" (that's what I remember, anyway!)

'bout fell out my chair...

The ANG crew chief showing up must have been quite a thrill. We're sure that the cub scouts will really enjoy the tour.

I missed the "wood" thing too. I think it was when I was on my way in from the car. I just got home. I was almost at Sea-Tac at the same time you were.... If traffic wasn't moving when I passed by, I was gonna call and meet you for a cocoa or somethin', but at the moment of decision, 35 MPH seemed like I was making progress, and you were still maybe 20 min out.

Yup "Want Some Wood" is a pretty good line. GW did a fine job.

The announcer never did announce which one of the audience was supposed to be the "undecided" voter; do you think that person didn't show up?

Yah... traffic getting outta the aireoport was nasty. Then... in life's oddities... 405 was completely clear.

:)

I think the guy who asked what El Jefe had done to save, succour and preserve Mother Earth was a little undecided*. Likewise the guy that asked why the Patriot Act specifies jackboots under "Needed Materials".

/sarcasm

*What a Mother-succour. Oops, did I say that out loud?
