The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Nice spam! Very inconspicuous. *grin*

I'll be sure to warn everyone that I've never fired any type of rifle in my life, so stand WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back.

It looked like h*ll... but anyone could walk the cable from one end of the building to the other and easily see that there were no taps on it...

Hey... it works. Form and function are usually opposed to each other in the networking dept, from what I've seen. Sure... it's nice to have all the cables all bound and tucked and zip-tied and such... but it's major b1tc# if you have to trace just one of those cables...

In our phx office we did something a little unorthodox. we racked the punchdown panels alternating with the ethernet switches that they corresponded to, one after the other all in the same racks. then we patched the ethernet switches right to each patch panel with little short one-foot cables, and so there was no cable management.

It looked kinda funny when we got done. the rack looks like a giant freestanding velco strip. BUT: tracing a patch cable is a *breeze* and takes only seconds. I like it.

The October American Rifleman has a good article on it; supposedly one can get 'get all the features of th pre-64 but better made..the computer driven milling etc. closer tolerances etc.' They claim safer, stronger and more accurate. Has a controlled feed bolt face, a hybrid of the pre-post 64 70s. This helps with the WSSM calibers, which for balixtic afficiandos should be important.

The model variations within the 70 family are pretty amazing from the plastic stock stainless steel to the walnut blued model with most stops in between.

I'm kinda with the skeptical crowd but it will be worth checking out. In the interim, I'll stop by Cabella's 'Gun Library' and drool over the Griffin and Howe that's there. :-)

Is it Suzi or Osage? Guess they will never know. Only the Shadow knows. :-)

I just finished watching the first two episodes of Samauri 7. Not sure if I like it yet or not...the animation is vey cool, but the story hasn't grabbed me yet for some reason. Guess because mostly it's a lot of action and not as much drama as some.

Agreed on both counts, my friend has taken several of the big bears, including the Russian variety last year, swears by 8mm Rem Mag. He is a hunter's hunter, imho, works hard for each shot and makes the shot count.
