CENTRE ISLAND, N.Y. - Singer-songwriter Billy Joel (news) married his fiancee, 23-year-old Kate Lee, in a ceremony Saturday at his Long Island mansion, his record label said. Joel, 55, wed Lee in a sunset wedding at his waterfront home, Newsday reported in its online editions. Columbia Records, Joel's label, announced the marriage Saturday night. A spokeswoman for Joel could not immediately be reached for comment.
Joel, who was previously married twice, including to supermodel Christie Brinkley, has had more than two dozen Top 10 hits, including his signature song "Piano Man," which was released in 1973 and became a hit the next year.
Last month, Joel's star was placed on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Pantages Theatre, where the Tony Award-winning musical based on his songs, "Movin' Out," is playing through Oct. 31. He is also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Lee, a native of Huntington, W.Va., recently graduated from Ohio's Miami University and works as a restaurant correspondent for the PBS show "George Hirsch: Living It Up!" She and Joel began dating last year, according to Newsday.
Bill: Shut up, Ted.
Ted: Your step-mom is cute, though.
Bill: Shut up, Ted.
Ted: Remember when I asked her to the prom?
Bill: Shut up Ted.
I thought King Hussein was dead.
If she rolls over, she may crush him.
I love Billy's music! :o)
It must be love. He probably has nothing to do with large fortune this guy has managed to amass during his career. But all the power to him.
If I could have some 23 year old on my arm, I wouldn't be complaining. And what the heck. It's only money.
First off over the weekend I heard that she was 22...not big deal between 22/23 AND 55! And secondly...SOME men just never grow up!It's like they can never give up playing with dolls...sissys IMHO.
Of whom? Not lesbo, and not a pedaphile. Rude, dude.
Billy Joel's MONEY married a 23 year old woman.
If Billy Joel were as in-debt and broke as I am, his chances of marrying any 23 year old woman - regardless of how she looked - would be about the same as a guy swimming in the middle of the Ohio River in February being attacked and eaten by a great white shark (my abject apologies to Greg Norman).
More power to ya, Billy!
If he married any younger he'd be taking her to school in the morning..."Look both ways when you cross the street now...daddy doesn't want to be lonely at night!"
There is no lesbian or pedophile mentioned anywhere in this article.
Quit eating paint chips. The damage is becoming apparent.
When I'm 55, Mary-Kate is 28. It all works out. Cool . . . |
Marriage is a lifelong committment, it's selfless giving, it's sharing growth of yourselves and your family, and eventually becoming "one flesh." How can a, what 50-something man?, do any of that with a 23-year-old girl?
OK, so the west hasn't understood marriage that way for a long time. That doesn't change what it is.
Shalom.
Okay, I'll make it simple for you to understand. Of course there wasn't any lesbian or pedophile references in the article. The references were mine, referring to your reply of "Jealous?" to my horsewhipping remark. I am making it 'clear' that I'm neither a lesbian, being a little old lady, or a pathetic old man that tries to hold on to his youth by marrying a woman more than half his age. Maybe pedophile was a bit too strong. Pitiful is more to the point, probably.
Then, in another 10 years or so I should be one happy dude?
Presuming, of course, your comment also applies to my wife.
Shalom.
Jealous?"
In the words my 15 year old daughter might use:
"Well, like, YeaahHHH?!"
Actually, I was just thinking to myself the other day, and commisserating about how much I loved being a father, that fact that my kids were growing up and moving on, and knowing that my wife and I will (biologically) never have more kids. I was thinking .. "if I lost my wife .. tragic.. but would I really remarry and if I did would I think about more kids .. would I have the energy.. would it be fair to them.." etc.. Then I looked in the mirror, and reality slapped me in the face, and I said to myself "kid, you haven't got enough money to find a young bride .. only rich guys like Trump do that sort of idiotic thing."
(In the end, I concluded, that if I lost my wife early I'd probably never remarry again .. just wouldnt' have the heart for it ... lol).

If the man has enough $$ in his pocket and lead in his pencil to make it work, he has every right to pursue happiness. Whether you approve or not.
It looks to me like Billy Joel has a ways to go to meet that scenario. He's not gorked out, sitting in a wheelchair yet.
However, here's what my husband has to say about much older, wealthy men who marry women a great deal younger than themselves: "She's looking to inherit."
Viva Viagra
She married his MONEY not Billy Joel - look at him ... if it werent' for his money he'd be a lonely bachelor. As for him, he married his youthful years. Being around someone younger sures up his self confidence and self image.
"And if he can't drive with a broken back.
At least he can polish the fenders."
