    The Long Walk

 Ahhhh...those stars
 know me well
and the moon grows rather fond of my company

 I've blazed many a trail
 in my mind's eye
 many a dream

 Gazed at barren walls,
 this lady in waiting,
 on those winds of change;
to turn the ship to shore

 Ive walked the path
 that I have tilled
 and toiled and spoiled
and bled the wine from my lost trials
 and laid waste to hopeful
 new day dawns
 that failed my view

I now feel as an extension of these,
 the hopefuls,
 these past figments,
 as some have said
and so draw from the deepest well of time,
from lost gardens of seeds Ive sown
and know the wealth of tears
 that wrought forth almost madness,
 in my solitude,
my starvation, need to feel love
 acceptance;
fought the bitterness of sour tongues,
that steal the kiss of freedoms hand

 The bars that held me were self-made;
the troubled mind, my broken wing,
 the pedestal I stood upon,
 was that of isolation

When I felt the breath of freedom
 brush my broken wing
I eased into flight from the pedestal

 Still the night
 craves my company
 and knows me well,
 as do the stars

 Change in general radiance
 is from,
 the man in the moon,
 who tends to shed
 more hopeful light.

To: JustAmy; All
Teachers dwell in some far-distant heaven,
Even the most plain and down-to-earth.
All your expertise and dedication
Captures our naive imagination,
Heightening the aura of your worth.
Eventually, that youthful admiration
Returns as we embrace what you have given,
Serving as the seed of our rebirth.

A lawyer with his briefcase can steal more than a hundred men with guns. -- Don Corleone, in The Godfather

A lawyer is never entirely comfortable with a friendly divorce, anymore than a good mortician wants to finish his job and then have the patient sit up on the table.

The good lawyer is not the man who has an eye to every side and angle of contingency, and qualifies all his qualifications, but who throws himself on your part so heartily, that he can get you out of a scrape.

Samuel Butler:
A lawyer's dream of Heaven: Every man reclaimed his own property at the resurrection, and each tried to recover it from all his forefathers.

"intelligent" in quotes would be the proper way to call them. They'll tell us whatever they think we want to hear.
