Whenever biblical prophecy prophesied pertaining to someone's destruction came about, the matter of repentance was always open. That doesn't make it a false prophecy. In fact, Jonah only serves to prove my point, because the only reason he didn't want to go was because he knew the people would repent.
The example of Jonah is nowhere near the true false prophets of today.
