Baptism of the Holy Spirit occurred exactly twice in the New Testament. Once to signify that salvation was available to man, and the second time to signifiy that it was available to the gentiles. There is no other mention of it. It was a special occurrence for those exact purposes. The BIBLE tells us that otherwise the gifts of the HS were bestowed upon others by the laying on of apostles hands. This is not some blind assertion from me, it is something I can PROVE. Well, it seems that the apostles died out, and with them the gifts.
Furthermore, the PURPOSE of the gifts is ended, so therefore no more gifts. We have the bible and that's all we should need to convince us.
The bible is God's complete revelation to man - not dreams, not so called prophecies, but the Bible. If you don't believe that the bible is true viz. 2 Tim 3:16-17, then why do you follow bible at all ??
Oh sorry. I forgot you didn't want to debate me because you don't have time (although you seem to have been doing nothing all day but posting here). I was just tired of you wresting scriptures and I won't tolerate it anymore. So debate me on a separate thread or stop misquoting scripture.
Those of us who know better
are quite comfortable and gifted at
flushing HOGWASH.
USNDAD: Furthermore, the PURPOSE of the gifts is ended, so therefore no more gifts. We have the bible and that's all we should need to convince us.
QX: Hogwash. The purpose of the gifts is to bring God Glory and further HIS PRIORITIES REGARDING LIFTING CHRIST UP AND FURTHERING HIS KINGDOM ON EARTH AS IN HEAVEN. If you think THAT's totally ended and accomplished, then I think you are in a VERY different reality from the one I'm used to.
USN DAD: The bible is God's complete revelation to man - not dreams, not so called prophecies, but the Bible. If you don't believe that the bible is true viz. 2 Tim 3:16-17, then why do you follow bible at all ??
QX: If you think that The Bible is 100% of God's 'complete' revelation, then I'm more convinced than ever that your tidy little boxed God is far too small to be the same God Almighty I know. Even Scriptures declare that the world could not contain a complete scribing of even Christ's good works--Qx paraphrase. Perhaps you've torn that Scripture out of your Bible.
QX: Certainly the Bible is SUFFICIENT to learn how to establish and maintain a growing relationship with God. AND PRAISE HIM FOR THAT. It's quite complete in terms of those goals and priorities.
QX: SCRIPTURE SAYS HOLY SPIRIT WAS SENT TO LEAD US INTO ALL TRUTH. Evidently the ink on the page alone was insufficient for THAT goal.
