If it is in a safe area, douse the spot with charcoal lighter fluid, and ignite. The smell comes from a butyl mercaptan. High heat will convert that mercaptan to CO2, SO2, and other combustion products, which should not smell so badly.
Be certain that it is safe to burn the area, though. Would not want to cause an accident.

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea. As long as I stay upwind from it!!
Just tried the vinegar thing. I'll give it a while and see what happens. This is horrendous!
