Thanks. It is the one part of modern political discourse that I really can't stand - the intimation that the other party is not part of "us." That the other party hates America. That the other party hates religion. And so on and so on. Some of the most pious people I know could only be described as "liberals." Some of the least pious people I know are conservatives. Same with patriotism. If that isn't what you intended, I apologize for the snide remark.

It is the one thing I hate about elections - our readiness to forget that we are in the same boat.

I guess one could wonder how I can stand hanging here.

"I guess one could wonder how I can stand hanging here."

It is a big country, and there many opinions. Freepers come in all varities. I always try to have the "right" opinion, but I certainly don't claim to. I am too prone to mistakes.

Oh, I'm not really talking about the "right" opinions. I'm just talking about reasoned civil discourse.

"There are two types of people in the world - one will rush into a burning building to rescue a stranger and the other will look the other way and hope no one noticed."

I really like that comment. However, I have to ask myself which group do I fall into sometimes. I do think President Bush is in the first.

"I'm just talking about reasoned civil discourse."

Sometimes it gets a little ugly, but as a whole I think it is OK here. When I first starting posting here, I wasn't as civil as I should have been, and needlessly hurt some folks. I try not to repeat that mistake. If someone disagrees with me, I have never been able to change their mind by insults. Actually, I can't say that I have ever really changed anyone's mind. Does that make me a loser?:-)

Did you see the new ad out for Bush - ? Great! Really shows Kerry doing the flip/flop in "his own words" -

The debate is not the last "word" - An ad showing the truth is much more likely to have an impact - in my opinion - and what an ad this one is :) I hope it shows in every state and at times where people of all age, race, etc. see it

just my thought -

"Did you see the new ad out for Bush - ?"

No I am an Oklahoman, and this state is solidly for Bush. It would be a waste of money to buy air time here. I do wish I could see this though.

What is nice about this ad - is I don't see how the media can call this an "attack" ad - since it does show Kerry himself speaking on Iraq and the statements he has made - flip/flop - leaves no doubt

If you get the Fox news station - you might be able to see it - they showed it once already -

Take care -
