First, I'd like to thank Jim Robinson for the subtitle of this week's thread. Took some guesswork off of the Table!
With Halloween just around the corner I thought we could discuss, well, all things Halloween. (In case you were wondering I have not, in fact, finished my first pot of daily coffee.) Do your kids get dressed up and go trick or treating? Do YOU get dressed up and go trick or treating? How is the day handled at your child's school? Do they have a Halloween party or is the mere mention of a holiday with Christian roots absolutely forbidden? Do you decorate your home for the occasion?
Can anyone give me a few tips on how to dress my 7 year old as Legolas??? Why is it that some kids refuse to be something normal, like Dracula or a Viking?
Our children's school hosts a Halloween party. this year it is the evening of Oct. 28. It is a family event and the parents dress in costume too. The school is a very traditional Lutheran school and we have only 13 families with children in attendance.
My daughters (age 5 and 8)are going as princesses. My son wants to be a snowboarder. We have to work on that costume. I want to be a queen. My husband doesn't like to dress up, so he will just be himself.
This year we have a wedding to attend the weekend of Halloween, so we are having my sister and her husband watch the kids Saturday and Sunday. They will take them trick or treating in their neighborhood.
Thanks Kiki...you are giving me alot to look forward to...jiggly belly and wider butt. Maybe I will just stay pregnant. I just keep saying its worth it and nothing that Cardio won't fix!
Don't fret. If you breastfeed, and some of us cannot, you'll lose most of your baby weight in the first two months, especially if you have a natural birth.
I was a lot slimmer than I was when I got pregnant with my first when he was four months old. I went from 125, my pre-pregancy weight, to 105. Too skinny for my 5' 4" frame. Of course, I had a Nazi OB who wouldn't let me gain more than 22 pounds.
ACK............I gained 55 pounds and my OB was not real thrilled with me when I went for my 6 week check up and had already lost 45 of it. She felt I was too skinny, and didn't want me losing any more. OH well.......
I'm one of the women others love to hate...........my butt did not get wider.....in fact I wore a spandex mini skirt to my husband's 25th HS class reunion when she was 5 weeks old. (OK - I'm going to start ducking now, because I know there is going to be much flying in my direction)
I was also wearing 5" heels that night........and it was my first, I was still in new mommy daze, and nearly 38............heck I'm still in new mommy daze and it's 6 years later!!!!!!
I was really still in new mommy daze - the baby was at my SIL's, a woman I would trust with my life - but if we were out a total of 3 hours, including drive time I think I can say that is stretching it - and I called her 3 times.
I had my OB tell me when eldest was 6 weeks old, "We're gonna lose you if you get any thinner." I was swimming in my size 4 pants. I was backin my 4's when my youngest was six weeks, as well.
I'm glad I'm not the only one other girls love to hate.
The grass is always greener.....................
It's just like the straight hair/curly hair or flat chested/big bust things - those that have one always prefer what the other has.
As to size 4 - I've never worn such a size except maybe when it was a children's size. I'm too tall!!!!!
I'm tiny only 5' 4". You're an Amazon woman compared to lil me.
FWIW, I lost all of my pregnancy weight within a week of delivery, all three times. The most I gained was 26 pounds but I'm 90 pounds to begin with so that's a lot.
Meryl Streep I'm not...thank you, God!
Nah, not an amazon, it's just my legs just happen to be 6 inches longer.
I'm a skinny thing with no hips, butt, waist or bust......but you know what, at 44 I really don't give a hoot!!!!!
...so we are having my sister and her husband watch the kids Saturday and Sunday.
Call me a waaaaaaaambulance! It seems like everybody is getting some alone time but us! Ah, well...we're planning a trip down south to visit my folks this coming Easter and I'm going to talk them into sitting for us one night so we can have a quick trip up to Savannah. That's only, what...six months away?! Something to look forward to!
You're gorgeous. You have that super-model thing goin' on.
I have the Marilyn Monroe thing, although with slimmer hips and waist-----at least until last year when my waist got plump overnight. What the hell. I'll be 46 on Christmas.
Same with me......
Thank you.
I don't let myself go - I just don't go out of my way to look like I am something that I'm not. I'm a 44 year old woman with an active 6 year old.
Am I manicured and pedicured and coifed and made up every day? - H-E-double hockey stick NO...........but I clean up real well!!!!
You're very welcome. From one earth woman to another: We both clean up nicely!

FReep with you later!!!!
I need to seriously consider a date between my head and my pillow!
I'll talk to you soon! Sleep well!
