well the sleepover is going well, all quiet downstairs from the teens. they were thrilled with the homecooked meal, as i thought they might be. xsboy got quite a bit of attention from the girls which i think totally blew him away, he was totally flattered. heck most of them are only 2 years older than he is anyway. xsbrownie is at her own sleepover at a friend's, and while i thought that i could finally truly sleep in tomorrow, one of the girls has to leave at 8:45 am for Portuguese school.
We have an Olympus and find it easy to use.
I am thinking that it is time to make homemade bread here. Maybe with a pot roast. I haven't made one of those in many, many years and it's time to learn to use the slow cooker. We went to the local HS football game tonight and our team won. It was a huge upset.
All the "info" presented has been out there for ages, yet ABC chose to air this 32 days before the general election.... Coincidence?? I think not.
Is Dan Blather moonlighting over at ABC to pick up some extra cash?
Everybody knows Neil is the black sheep of the family. Isn't his daughter the famous model? She's not letting her dad hold her back from being successful.
It seems as though everything was very orderly. Heinlein said it leads to politeness.
Any legislator who fears an armed citizenry, which is essentially a volunteer police force, needs to go into another line of work.
Something honest, maybe.
falls church is RIFE with leftists, i am sure the idea of people with guns gives them nightmares. i will have to look for the falls church pravda press this week. the red diapered editor no doubt will have some screed about this.
I've never been to Falls Church, but it sounds like an "East Lansing" type area outside of the college. Commuters to the capitol.
Although it's hard to top the idiots who dominate EL's city council. Michigan has a preemption law where cities can't have stricter gun laws than the state.
EL's council passed an anti-gun law that violated state law. (Whoops, wasn't anti-gun but anti-weapons....knives too - to POSSIBLY get around the law)
When I called the council out on it being a waste of tax money because it was illegal - the Mayor said "We're in court all the time anyway!"
Glad I don't live there anymore. Especially since I was voting from my dad's house at the time(Insurance).
Hubby was telling me yesterday about something that went on in his class this week.
The instructor, an American citizen originally from Belfast, used an analogy about firing speed of a gun in relation to whatever it was they were doing. Of the 9 folks in the class one had absolutely no clue what the instructor was talking about.......he couldn't understand why anyone would even have a gun, let alone know anything about firing one. He didn't know anyone who even owned one.
According to hubby the guy was a cool guy, pushing 60 and considered himself an oddball in that he lives in south Chicago and is a right leaning conservative.
the whole story about his reaction to everyone else in the class understanding the gun analogy was hilarious. He was appalled about the fact hubby said we had guns in the house and listed what they all were. Hubby has a wicked sense of humor and his response to the question "but, what about your daughter?" was classic.............""She knows what end the bullets come out."
(disclaimer here for those seeking anything they can to find me a bad person - no weapon accessible to anyone but an adult is loaded and there is no ammunition accessible either)
Nothing much has happened in Chicago to make someone think they would even need a gun since they imposed the library fine on a Mr. Alphonse Capone.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!
Similar comments apparently abounded in the room that day.
Hubby was hilarious with his telling of the story. Particularly when the Chi guy asked how someone from over "there' would know anything about guns..............the guy had no clue about the irony of his question posed to someone from Belfast.
That is funny........LOL
Well, it's true.............
They'd call you all sorts of names if you called the cops because a dark-skinned bearded guy with a wild look in his eyes showed up with a suspicious-looking cardboard box. You'd be guilty of "profiling".
LMAO. I love it when Libs foam at the mouth.
You don't really think your child can't get to a gun, do you? The key is that she knows what it is for and how to handle one correctly when she finds it. The truly paranoid need to be reminded that most people keep sharp knives accessible without worry. I don't think we have any anti-gun nuts posting in this room, but I'm sure they lurk.
She knows exactly where all but 2 of them are. She knows the other 2 exist, and calls one of them "daddy's snake gun."
She knows what they are for and how to handle one is dealt with on an age appropriate basis. Other than saying it's too heavy for her (it is) she has not handled one, and shows no interest in them, unless daddy is on the hunt for a snake!!!
I grew up in a house with guns (daddy was a cop) and my grandparents also had guns (pop was a hunter and retired cop) and hubby grew up with them as well. We were taught a healthy respect for them at an early age, and are just repeating the lessons.
Just like all who enjoy adult beverages are not going to turn into murderous drunk drivers or wife beaters, not all gun owners are irresponsible criminals out to wreak havoc.
I totally understand your concern regarding the anti-gun types.
Good news!
