Has anyone else noticed this?
Don't apologize, the new Media is the Blogosphere and yes, citizens who give a crap enough to not be brainwashed by Rather and co.
No, they are two different things. A blog is a post from another site while a vanity is a FREEPER who wants to ask a question or post a comment. Hope this helps!
AND I CALL THEM ON IT, TOO!
We ALL should - let them leave their leaflets on other people's windshields. Free Republic does NOT condone pop-up ads, let alone site pimps!
FR is closer to a bulletin board if anyone here remembers the old BBS days. Multiple posters, multiple commentators, and the proprietor functions as moderator, policy-maker, and occasional Zotmeister. Different thing altogether, and much more powerful inasmuch as there are many more voices.
Everyone saw the success of Buckhead now everyone is wondering why the world hasn't recognized their genius for photoshopping dan rather into humiliating outfits and making disparaging remarks about the clintons.
We are all feverishly posting vanities in the hopes that Dr. Phil will read them and invite us on his program. Then after we are on Dr. Phil, we will receive a book contract. The book will be full of contorted spellings of the names of democratic persons and we will finally have the attention we deserve. That's why I come here.
It's a short cut.
"Blogs" has one syllable. Discussion board has four.
The explanation is that simple.
Thanks Sarge. I was afraid I was alone in this. I simply don't want to risk going to an unknown site due to the nasty viruses or spyware or whatever that might be lurking there for us. What better way for a troll to really attack us than to lure us to an infected site. I even had my browser freeze and then crash after going to a blog once. Never again.
Bloggers were pajamies, while no one really knows what people who post to Discussion boards wear.
Same happened to me. I hold all site pimps as suspect.
All kinds of folks use FR as their community web log.
Most of what I wish to say, I can say right here.
I ask myself, "Does the world need headsonpikes.com?" and I answer "Not evidently."
One comment I will add is that there are definitely too many vanity posts such as your own.
Since you're eliciting opinions, I thought I'd provide one.
I agree. Hey Mr. Modman! Can you check out this last comment above! Thanks! I know you guys are working hard; if a pimp appears, do we hit abuse?
I hate excerpting, and it's ridiculous for bloggers to treat us like the Post or the Times or those bastions of stupidity that won't even allow so much as even a teaser.
I don't mind throwing them a bone if they actually have something interesting to say. I'll usually draw the line at "freep my own poll" posts.
So true. Annoys the heck out of me.
