Bosh. Balderdash.
Soviet-styled, European communism was destroyed for once and for all in the late '80's. We won the Cold War with brave warriors-statesmen like Reagan, Thatcher, and the Pope. This much is true for certain.
However, communism is NOT a weaker force now than it was then. It's simply shifted focus. China and North Korea remain daily threats to our future existence, with Korea practicing open beligerance and China attempting to decieve America through false ingratiation and a quiet secrecy about the theft of Nuclear secrets, etc.
Look closer than the surface of the question. Look at the Latin America of today, and observe the greatest surge of communism in South American history unfolding beneath our uncaring, distracted eyes. The Shining path is coming back; the FARC never left. Venuzuela has become a Cuban-styled communist dictatorship in all but name. More "benign" (at least for now) Communists run formerly anti-communist states from Brazil to Argentina.
