I just do not spend my life with the in crowd. I just like to utilize the English language properly and not use it as exclusionary conversation.

I'm looking for a bumper sticker that says" I'd Rather be Blogging." But I want the little "th" I just don't know how to do it.

Simple -
Create it in MS Word.
Put it in large enough font to fit a bumper sticker
cut to size and cover with plastic
double back tape or other means - stick on car

The purpose of using abbreviations is not to be exclusionary, but to same time and bandwidth.
I didn't understand all the acronyms at first also, but now it is second nature. But then again I work in the medical field that also has a language of its own.

I can make one up for you on my old typewriter.

Heh... love that one too. In preliminary chat trials, it seems to be the phrase that best drives the lefties nuts. I think I'm going to try and find one.

The purpose of using abbreviations is not to be exclusionary, but to same time and bandwidth. I am an engineer. That may save time for you but not for others who question what it means. Is that worth a few extra seconds to let everyone understand what you are trying to say. Secondly - Bandwidth is a weak excuse. I didn't understand all the acronyms at first also, but now it is second nature. But then again I work in the medical field that also has a language of its own. If I am not privy to your field of endeavor how am I supposed to understand what you are saying? In my field it would mean Delta Unit or Delta Unit of Change (entropy).

Excuse me....your vernacular may not include slang, but, as a long time poster here, surely you would have come across "DU" being posted and numerous newbies asking what's a "DU."
I find it a bit odd that someone with membership three years longer than myself (an English major) hasn't the knowledge of the vernacular commonly, and routinely shared by most members of FR (that's FreeRepublic).
That's just my 2 cents.

2 cents is what it is worth. Like I said - I do not spent my entire life online and there are others are like me which means that others also do not understand the lingo.
If there are requirements to be a member then those requirements should be posted somewhere.

Oh shucky darns, I forgot about that. I'll have to use the PC I bought in 1971. That should do the trick.

What is your major malfunction? You've been here long enough to know what DU is, unless you're not the real jongaltsr. Why are you trying to start an argument over this?

Boy are you in a bad mood.
I have been here 2 + years less than you have. I don't have every acronym figured out. If I really want to know, I just ask. I did answer your question without being judgemental.
Since you are an engineer I think that you are smart enough and have a secure enough outlook on life that you don't have to feel excluded because you don't understand a word or two on a thread.
To: notpoliticallycorewrecked
I have been asking for about a month now and nobody (NOBODY) has given me a civil answer. \
Now I sound mad and that is because I am.
All I get from Freepers now a days is snide remarks and put downs. This used to be a nice forum - but not much anymore.
