I don't think it was the networks problem. I'd consider that part of the 'Home Field Advantage'. You want me for a press conference follow my rules. A new low for journalism.

If the networks are going to air the news conference, it IS their responsibility to make sure that all parts of the conference are audible to their viewing public. C-SPAN always goes out of its way to make sure that people's questions are audible at a book-signing etc. by making sure that either a mic is brought to them or having them go to a mic. Surely the big networks or the party itself could assign someone with a directional mic to make the reporters' questions audible so those at home wouldn't have to be guessing what was the question.
It the difference between outright arrogance and serving the public's need/right to know.
