Andy Roonie put out the word that Rather has nothing to fear from CBS management now ... but Rooney said "In six Months??.. Very likley!"

I took that as managment telling Rooney to give Rather a gentle hint to resign before six months is up.

The problem for CBS is they can't control talk radio, FNC and the internet.

It is not the crime but the cover up that was the lesson from Watergate. Rather and CBS have forgotten. This thing could go to the FCC as an industry wide investigation prior to posssible rule making. With public hearings under oath for all broadcast media, then CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN as well as CBS could be in a world of hurt. What if the FCC decided to see how wide spread this sort of thing is. And did hearings about the need for regulations in this matter. They could take on all the media.. and take nearly all the broadcast media down in one fell swoop. They could even require the networks to carry gavel to gavel coverage of the hearings.

A couple of Georgetown party hints by Michael Powell on an industry wide set of hearings should do it. Powell culd threaten to act only if CBS is not shaped up. That ought to see that the rest of the media throw CBS and Kerry to the wolves.

It would be wonderful to watch.
