Boy, stuff like this really makes you wonder. We looked at an old house in the country a few years back. We both really liked it, but it just had a feel that wasn't real homey. Both of us got that impression, and neither said a word to the other, until we were back home that night.
Neither one of us fancied staying alone in the place at night.
Later on, we heard that not only had the elderly owner been killed in a really horrific wreck, her daughter had died the same way, on the same highway, about 30 years before.
A local woman was given a rocking chair, by the old lady. Seems the old lady had given it away because she couldn't keep it from rocking by itself.
I don't regret for an instant not buying that place.

I remember seeing a movie on cable called "The House the Dripped Blood" in which a English couple fake a haunted house so they could write a book.
