I really don't know if it is safe to use Neosporin on a cat. Does the label say anything about ingesting it? I'll have to dig up my tube. You might try dabbing on a little hydrogen peroxide if you have some - that's a good disinfectant. Of course, the Neosporin is good to keep the wound moist so it heals better. Do you have any emergency vet clinics around that you can call? Can you call a local vet's answering service for advice? I just don't know.

Just keep checking him with your hands to see if there are any abscesses developing where you can't see them.

Yeah. It does say not to ingest it. That is why I was concerned.

I called the emergency number for one of our vets. Not sure how much help he was. He said it was safe to use a little and since he was old, he probably wasn't cleaning himself too good, so licking wouldn't be too much of a concern. HUH?
