Almost everyone showed up with their voter registration cards and probably over half had their registration card AND their license ready when they came to the table. I ended up working the busiest station and became known as the "lady in blue." Most everyone was well-behaved and the only problems we had were 3 people who hadn't registered, or whose registration had been canceled. I discovered that in this county, if you don't vote in 2 consecutive elections, you are purged from the rolls. Unfortunately, a couple of folks found that out the hard way.
There were only 2 people that showed up with campaign stuff on, RATs naturally. One about mid day, I had to ask to remove a Kerry pin from his hat. Then this evening there was a DUhmmy type that came in with a nasty anti-Bush t-shirt on. He was told he had to cover it or go change. He borrowed a jacket from one of the firefighters. I had to check his ID and find his name and all. All the while he's standing there grinning like an idiot with his fly down, and I'm thinking "I'd have figured you for a DUhmmy without the shirt. So after he votes, he gives the firefighter back his jacket, and he's standing at the door of the polling place in this tacky, offensive shirt, talking to people. Everybody else was just ignoring him so I got up and went and threw his #$$ out told him he had to leave; that he couldn't be within 100 feet of the polling place with that shirt on. He says, "oh really?" I said, "really." So he walks of, guffawing like some inbred moron. But he was really the only jerk all day.
That's the kind of DUmmy that I referred to derisively four years ago as a "Gore Voter". Now I can call them Kerry voters! Duh... rude, crude, socially unacceptable, and stupid.
