These hedgeapples are falling all over my front yard now from very tall trees. They're as big as softballs. You'd think one would bean a squirrel on the way down.

I had a strange experience at Walmart yesterday. I went in through the garden center and was looking around a bit in the caged in part and I saw this strange looking bird. I asked the lady that was sitting by the gate if she knew there was a strange looking bird in there running around. She said she did. I asked her if she knew what it was or how it got there. She said she didn't. It looked very much like a Kiwi bird, only thinner and the feathers were more striped-like. The beak wasn't quite so long, I don't think. I don't think it was a bird native to the US. Do we have any tailess birds? I felt kinda sorry for him. Probably an inadvertent stowaway in some of these Chinese imports or something, and now here all by himself without so much as a mate.

You'd think that they would take out the occasional squirrel...
