Oh that is terrible - die, die, die septic man! Do your roses die back in the winter? Do you cut them down pretty low? Mine grew up to five feet tall this summer, some are climbing roses, but yesterday I was hacking them up (dead growth, spindly canes...) I have to fertilize them before November.
Mine has never died back in winter, and cutting it back hurt it.
So I wrap it in burlap like a tree rose and pray.
I sometimes get blooms mid winter regardless.
The guy deserves to be plant food, but he won't get that way by my hand.
(Fortunately for him.)
He literally said he didn't care, that he'd use a backhoe to dig it up if I didn't.
(It was a Father's Day give from my step-daughter.)
Needless to say, I told him that if he laid a hand on it that he'd lose his arm and maybe alot more than that.
