Yeah, I miss the days of the big department stores.
Unfortunately, Woolworth's, Penny's, Sears, and such are seemingly increasingly a thing of the past, and that should not be.
Sam Walton's idea for Wal-Mart was vastly different than how it is run in my area.
The management at least acts like some weird cult..
The employees usually are pretty cool though.

I like and shop at Wal Mart. I especially like to debate freepers who attack the store every time a thread shows up on Wal Mart news. It is always the same old arguments of Wal Mart underpaying their employees to the degree that they must apply for government assistance, of working their employees off the clock, of importing goods from China, of running Mom and Pop stored out of business....blah blah blah.
And I never cease to wonder why otherwise intelligent freepers do not realize why so many hit pieces are written about Wal Mart, and not Target or K Mart or other chain stores.
There is a really simple explanation. There is nothing that the unions want more than to organize workers of Wal Mart, a huge company and a big coup for them. And the unions do a good job of getting negative articles written of the company. And conservative freepers who usually question every thing, usually fall for this line...hook, line and sinker.

I don't really know never been to Walmart!
All I know what I hear from Paul Harvey how congenial the staff often he reports on how one of the Walmart people gone beyond the mart as an employee!
All I know Moscow on the Hudson won't allow Walmart on the island!

What destoryed the neighborhood was shopping malls that started in the late 50's
There is something called
Regional Government and Land Control it all started with the NWO who got into each city and had city planners and those lovely little towns that was quaint was destoryed how they had redesigned the parking and meters made it dificult for community Sat days visits and the Malls were so huge to be congenial except for the teens who liked it they could drop out of sight and not be bothered!
