Siesta Clubbers wait for their hybrid cars: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1240247/posts
Ugh!
I may buy a diesel electric car IF it can be made to accelerate from 0 to 60 in 7 seconds or so.
(The new TDI V10 turbocharged diesel engine can do 0-60 in 7.8 seconds..)
Gimme insanely high fuel mileage, excellent handling, and respectable acceleration, make it affordable, and I'm a happy man.
So far, none of the technologies looked into can deliver on that except the diesel electrics.. but diesels are frowned upon by the envirowackies as 'black smokers' and 'soot factories'.
Guess they don't know anything about VW/Bosch diesels.
;-)
*snicker*
VW Jetta TDI diesel car WITH automatic transmission still gets 43 MPG highway and 38 city.. much higher than wahat I'm currently getting..
And still accelerates well enough to chirp tires.
(With the manual transmission, the tire squeal can be held onto for a longer time.)
