I am so glad. I worried about you and your place. It's so beautiful and you enjoy it so. I'm delighted it's okay.
The building inspectors say I've sustained "substantial damage" "over 50%." That's for the coast house. Here, at home, just lost roofing tiles and a few trees. None on the house. My yard looks like a storm hit it. :)
I'm not certain, yet, if I'll rebuild on the Coast. With things for me, as they are right now, it seems foolish. Still, I do love it there, even if I don't get to go very often. So, it's a turmoil for me to make a decision. Thank God I don't have to decide today. :)
I'm really leaning toward letting the lot return to Nature. Then, should my Heirs lean toward Coastal living, they'll have a spot to consider.
Oh what a shame that you lost so much of that house. Glad to hear that your main home escaped too much damage. Our condo on the beach survived it perfectly, but we had good storm shutters, but most of the island got a lot of damage.
Our house only lost one palm out front and thankfully it wasn't one of the Royals. Slight damage with the boat covers but they can be remade.
Since then we have sold the condo, so we only have the house to worry about now. All our friends came thru it unscathed as well, thank goodness.
Good idea to keep the land, it should sell really well pretty soon, if you even want to.
Oh boy, you did get damaged by that storm then huh? One of the girls on the Peterson threads is from Alabama, and they had damage also. She was off line for nearly a week. Said her house was fine tho. I can hardly believe the devestation in Florida. Isn't this time of year supposed to be the "start" of Hurricane season?
