LOL!
I just got this email from a credible source (deleted some names). I went to the survey and also checked out the APME. Didn't know if I should send to "all" so am sending to my mentor :) Anyway, FYI...
Dear -------,
This was just sent to me by a member of one of Wyoming's largest circulation newspapers.. Here's our chance to tell the AP what we really think. I plan to let them know that, until the day they begin every article about Kerry as "the candidate who won't sign the form 180 to release his military records," (which is the exact way they'd portray Bush if the roles were reversed), they won't have even the tiniest bit of credibility with me.
Perhaps if we put enough pressure on them, they'll mention the 180/military records business. So please send this around to anyone that you might deem to be concerned.
Dear Readers:
The presidential election is only a few weeks away. And, perhaps more than ever, the credibility of the media relating to political coverage is being closely examined. Editors from newsrooms around the country invite you to discuss the political coverage you've seen thus far of national and local campaigns.
Today we'd like to ask a few simple questions about information, credibility and coverage priorities that will help guide us in our coverage not only this year, but in future years. Where do you get your information? What sources do you trust? What issues have not been covered to your satisfaction? To fill out this short survey, please go to this Associated Press Managing Editors Web site: http://www.apme-credibility.org/survey
Please respond by Friday, Oct. 1. Our newsroom has joined a nationwide network of newsrooms asking these same questions in cities and towns across the country. So, not only will your answers advise us, but they will be used as part of a nationwide survey of readers. Your responses might be used in stories produced for either a local or national audience, so we ask that you provide contact information (which might be used by reporters but not otherwise shared with anyone.)
