Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Yes, the lady that sold them to us loved them dearly. It really broker her heart to have to sell them.
duh
broker=broke
Man those are some black clouds over head for me to be in short sleeves ;~D
You were talking earlier about barns. Maybe tomorrow if I get a chance, I will post some pics of a transformation of a garage, to a horse barn. Got to get to bed now. Good night.
Heck of a storm coming in. Beautiful paint.
Well, Only one way to find out! She's not lazy, that's the thing. If she's loose when we're riding, she runs circles around us. It's in her head.
The baby probably going to stay close to momma anyway I would think.
Thanks. Night.
I guess it's possible that somewhere in her head she associates ponying with a bad experience. Maybe just insisting with Bay, at least at a walk would work since she trusts him and you.
We ponied all over the woods when the babe got older. Got pretty good at it.
Here we are with the foal older, and there's Bay with Bob on him.... 13 years ago :~D
It helps a lot when it's momma they are supposed to follow, yeah. ;~D
My, she is a tank isn't she? Beats me why everyone started breeding for pretty little feet when they cause so much problems.
Funny thing is, I thought my QH had big feet until Hair educated me:')
Mustangs generally have big feet - very few foot problems too.
I'd have to say he's stepping on them. Either he's wearing shoes that aren't the right size or well fitted, and/or he's not moving correctly and/or he's overstriking. Do the shoes stick out on the inside or out the back? When he trots do you ever hear a click like the sound of him striking his front feet with the back ones?
New farrier?
She's got nice feet.
Not really, no. If he's pulling them off, better to pull off the shoe than to glue it on and pull off part of his foot with it ;~D
Does the farrier do other horses there at the barn? Do they have problems?
