The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!

Posted on 09/18/2004 6:56:23 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Stuff cold too. Like ice lol. They opened one yesterday. My son worked last night. He'll be getting up in a few hours and they will open. I told him it could wait until this afternoon. We'll see. The boys just excited because today when "daddy" gets up.....It's a fun age.

Gabby, Cody, Snowflakes,Chuck and Hizzy enjoying a Christmas treat.

Grandaughter on right with new pj's and vest.

Chuck has flea allergies, hence the bare butt. I have treated him with skin shampoos, but he still keeps losing hair. A trip to the vet this week is in order.

It was zero this morning. Kids are over the other half of the families, opening presents. We did our thing here at 6:00 am. They want to leave by noon for Florida, so we got an early start.

I bought the boys spiderman underoos. That's what they opened yesterday. They were so cute. My camera at work so I'm down to the disposable. Lot's of people can't get their car started to get to work. My husband making the rounds. I don't think he's enjoying this treat. He's having a Bah Humbug day:')

Mine has everything. It's my hub. It's in the middle of the house and as I pick up I throw or put things on the counter.

How many cats and grandkids do you have? Is she the youngest? I have kids in Florida too.

Too bad about your weather. We were lucky in the Northeast part. In Central and Western Ohio, many are still without power. They also got a large amount of snow. I am sure it ruined the Holiday for a lot of people.

My grandaughter is 5. My SIL has two from a previous marriage, a boy, 12 (who lives with us) and a daughter 11 in Florida. His mom (SIL) and the "step-grandchildren's" mom live in the Tampa area.

Five cats. Cody and Gabby (both 7) are litter mates, and are mine. The others WERE suppose to be barn cats. :) We had a problem with racoons killing the kittens, so they were brought in.

Hey, glad to see you got your "N" fixed.
I don't envy you the dirty dishes. It's so nice to have a big family gathering, but it's a lot of work.
We are going to have buffet style with finger food, and paper plates when the kids get back. No use making a lot, when they are going to leave.

We will snack all day and have our "meal" about 6 when my son gets up. I'm cooking a ham but I'm cheating. It just needs warming. They want another potato salad too. I like cooking, just hate cleaning up.

I think I'm gonna get me another cat but I want to go to another breed. Dogs are good but I have had no luck with pound kitties. They have learned to be aggressive and tend to want to roam.

Any time now, huh? I just made my annual batch of fudge (like we need it:'). After the pan cooled down I set it in the floor and gave the 2 and 4 y/o a spoon. They were hesitant but caught on really fast.

Good morning and Merry Christmas.

Hubby and I opened presents, I've got the table set for 17, cats locked up in the back bedroom for the day - boy do they hate it, and min pin sectioned off in a corner of the kitchen with baby gates. (Have you ever heard one of them howl?) Taking a short break and then will start cooking.

Merry Christmas. I'm working on a potato salad now. I have Cindy penned up in the utility room. She mooches. The two year old... Well, I bring his high chair in the kitchen and pen him up too:')

I've got all put 2 pots done washing, the house mostly back to normal:) (Oh, I don't have a dishwasher either), But it really isn't all that bad doing, if you just take your time and lets things soak a sinkful at a time.

Have enought food left over for a few more meals, so no cooking for a while:)

All my dishwasher does is hot wash. I have to wash before I put them in anyway. We have been trying to wash and clean up as we go along. Not bad so far. I need to go get my mustang out of the garage though so I can finish washing. I wish we had a vent out there so it gets warm.

I think the min pin is about the age level of a two year old :)

Got two pair of satin pajamas and a shredder for my office. Also got a show halter bag from a friend and a sign for my kitchen from another friend "Old Stallion lives here with his Filly" We won't open most presents until the kids all show up this afternoon.
