I'll go put it in the truck right now, but I'm not sure if there will be anyone in the stands to take some. We're all going to be on horses:)
Jenny is doing exhibitions on Dot and Kristy is doing one on Harley. Then Jenny will compete on Rock, and Kristy on Rowdy. I'm just doing exhibitions tonight too. I need to know where we are at time wise.

Instead of yelling, "Eddie, help!" I should have yelled "get the camera" :') You see the pic where she does that scratching? It's just that left side but she "goes to town"
Well, now ya know what's really important.
I did see the rubbing behavior... Mine do that on the trees in the paddock. Maybe feels good, maybe she's bored when tied, prolly both.
I don't usually drink but maybe I could fill a bag with empty "liquid courage" cans too. If nothing else, it would be interesting watching. My luck, she would work them loose and look at me like , you wanna be next? :')
Back years ago when I was riding in a playday, I had a few beers, and made the best run I'd ever made up to that point:) The best part was I wasn't nervous:)

I don't think your mare would necessarily benefit from the bag trick.... And I think 'sheer panic' as a training device is a risky tactic to try.
Any news on her? Has that guy ridden her again?
I agree. That's why I knew the minute I saw that trash bag fill up with air, I had made a mistake. Should have started with a small Walmart bag. But since I had started, I figured I shouldn't quit. I had a feeling Rusty would be OK, pretty fast. He has a good head. But another more goosey horse could have really hurt themselves, or just never recovered.

My mare who could never get comfortable with anything plastic had been thrown and tarped. Punishment. I think that was why it was always such a scary thing for her. I couldn't even get close to her with a rain coat on. Just the smell of plastic was enough to spook her.

I wouldn't do the bag trick that trainer did with the pony on a full sized unbroke horse.... They could bust a round pen in a big enough panic. It worked for the pony's circumstance well enough, I am glad I saw it... and it was the answer in her circumstance because she couldn't outstick her any other way. She said she had ridden out a lot of bucking horses and she just couldn't stay on that pony. I think because she is so small there is nothing to hang on to, your legs wrap around to nothing, and she is really quick. Bucking had always worked for her to ditch whatever was bugging her, and at least that one time, it didn't work. She did stop.
Yep. I might not be able to stay on but I would be happy rolling off:')
I admire the 'indian' method for breaking horses, where they would climb on the first time in deep water in a lake. The horse couldn't buck as well in water, but most important, if you did get tossed, it didn't hurt.
The question I have always had about doing that was How do they get it on the horse in the first place? Seems even if you hook it to the saddle before you saddle it would be difficult because of the rattleing.

I haven't talked with anyone today. I'm going out there about 6. I haven't decided if I'm getting back on yet. If I do I'm gonna tie her up first and longe her hard . Working on my nerve right now.
I've already started leveling the playing field by putting her in the pasture and decreasing her pellets. Not sure what else to do. How she acts today going to really affect if I keep her even awhile or not .
Well she dumped me in mud yesterday. The ground not that bad. The saddle , going over is what gets me.
I was there for that. She was broke to the point where she would stand while you quietly put the saddle on. it wasn't loud at the slightest movement, it was a burlap-like bag with a cans that we 'held' still while saddling, and she was outnumbered by people in case she blew up. She stood still till everyone walked away, and she wasn't sure what to do. It wasn't till someone clucked to her that she moved.
No harm in lunging her for as long as it takes. ;~D
