The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!

Posted on 09/18/2004 6:56:23 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I've searched every way I know how, but there are no lippazzners. The one you have may be the guys own design. I'm not sure if you could get someone to reproduce it. Copyrights and things.

I was also trying to see if I could post images from the web site:) Guess I can:)

To get Lipizzaners, plug in the names of the foundation sires, or "Spanische Hofreitschule Wien"

You have to spell it right . . . the horses are named after the old Imperial stud at Lipizza.

I was trying to find a transfer of a lipizzaner at a web site I order from. Frog has a shirt that she would like to get another of.

But thanks anyway for the help.

Take pictures of ponies in snow... You know the drill :~D

I used to just love snow... Now, with critters, it's just a lot of work. But I love to enjoy the first one of the season :~D

OK. But that will probably be the only time I go out. It's suppose to clear out around noon.

Think I'll go get my evening feed done now before it starts.

Hewlett Packard sells packages of fabric heat transfer medium.

Take any picture, size it, and print it on a laser printer, then iron it onto the shirt.

It doesn't sit on the surface like those old cheap Tshirts, it melts right into the fabric.

I did one for my daughter 3 years ago, and she's still wearing it and it looks fine. I've done B&W line drawings and full color photos.

That sounds alot like the transfers I use. We have a commercial press, and the shirts come out real nice.

I found one Lipizzane (sp:) in one of the catalogs but on line it says it's been discontinued. 9000 transfers and none like she is looking for...I'm not trying to spell it again:).LOL

I'd almost bet a dollar to a donut that we don't get any snow. The weathermen here are nuts:)

From Google Images - that's what I use at the library for searchs of pictures. Some of these are probably copywrited. I started looking because it sounded a little bit like Leonardo's horses but I don't think it is.

Good morning.

Just as I suspected...no snow, but still damp, very windy and very cold.

Cindy, how was the ride?

That's a good one! I think the blonde worker was Paris Hilton doing another reality show.
