Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
That was the first thing I tried but it didn't make a dent. You can't even scrape the stuff up with your fingernail. I'm at a loss other than replacing it, something I don't want to do. I hate having strangers in my house working, especially in my bedroom area.
Rifle hunting season is over Sunday. I think that bow, and black powder seasons are still open. Rifle season is the only time I don't ride on the trails. It's about the only time, other then maybe weekends for the other seasons, that we get hunters thru the week. And I don't ride much on weekends anyway.

It's getting serious here. The stage is set for tornadoes and hail. I just put the horses up and they are acting weird. It's real still and ominous, getting darker with thunder and occasional rain. It feels like spring, not fall.
Wow...stay safe.
Becky
Chances are my electricity will get knocked out so if you don't hear from me, don't think the worst.
I just cancelled a kids doctor appointment. The doctor is a long way away and I was going to leave my other kids home with my 15 year old babysitting. They would be too scared here alone so I cancelled.
I just checked out this radar loop:

Takes awhile to load if you click the link, but it does look serious, and headed my way...thanks for the heads up.
Becky
Looks like a big storm headed our way.
See the link in post 4126.

This is the easy part. There are several systems coming together to make things really nasty this afternoon.
Well, the chickens are gonna be disappointed because they don't get to get out of the coop!
Thanks for the heads-up...I don't even turn the TV on until after lunch because the kids are using it for their schooling.
Hey...I'm looking for a VW Bug...know of one somewhere?
There was one down here at Mingo and Hwy 64, but I can't remember if it's still there. I'll look today when I go to town and let you know.
Becky
Thank you!
I went to the library and saw your building the other day,,,looks very nice!
Thanks:)
Did you know I was putting a T shirt shop there? Hopefully I will get it opened by next Mon.
$5 T-Shirt Factory:)
Hopefully $5 shirts will get people in there, and our name out, to bring in custom business.
Becky
Stay safe everyone.
Silk screening????
No, at least not at the start.
We found a really neat commercial press, and a good transfer company. The ink of these transfers more or less melt into the fabric, so they don't get that stiff feel to them. The transfer stays soft, close to like silk screen.
In the near future for custom stuff I will send the art work to this company and they make the transfer. In the far future I can buy the program and printer to do my own transfer making.
We've been doing this for awhile, but living out here it's hard to get the word out. Hopefully a shop in town will bring in more business. Hopefully enought that at some point my daughter and possibly DIL too, will be able to work and make enough. Then each of us will only be having to work 2-3 days a week. They can bring their kids down there, and even (if it really works, and we stay in business that long) at some point just homeschool them there. That's the goals:)
Becky
Ahhh...
I really wanted to make a Coburn tee-shirt...had the transfer graphic and everything but didn't have a good enough printer and Kinkos said they'd print it for me, but that it required a heat press hotter than my iron.
Your goals are GREAT! Best of luck with it! If I'm in the area and I see you, I'll swing by and say hello!
I have a really cool silk screened t-shirt that I got a several years ago at Equitana from a Spainish guy with a Lusitano booth. It's got the most gorgeous head shot of a Lusitano or Lipizaner that covers most of the whole front. It's just black ink on a white t-shirt and looks like an engraving out of an old book. It's gotten pretty worn and stained but I'd love to have another one. I made a good close up digital picture of the shirt stretched over a piece of cardboard. Do you think I could give that to someone with silkscreen software and have another one made? And if so, would it be too expensive?
Spanish, not Spainish. I thought that looked weird. Duh!
Now I just have to draw our little hats... and figure how to get the cat in there.... ;~D
This is a rather nice "dream effect" in Photoshop... This is now my desktop :~D
And I rather like this one of me leading all three horses out...
Outstanding :) - waiting for the finished product now. I like the dream effect best I think.
