Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Wow. Was she calling him? Why is she inside this time?
We were just giving them a hard time. He won her back again a few minutes later and they ran the victory lap and had a great time.
We went out there to watch them because she was squealing and making such a fuss. She hasn't had heat cycles that were this strong this year.... maybe she feels summer has got away from her and she'd better get on it. ;~D
Something foe me to look forward to:'(. lol
Heh yeah, and yours are younger and faster.... But ole Bay can kick it up pretty good for an old man of 22. ;~D
I saw that. Spunky ole guy!! Shame on yall for messing with his woman:') Sarah Lee darn glad no stores close or I would have popped her with Midol yesterday.
The filly is a solid bay. Her dam was there too, but we missed out on her. We had to go back home, to get the trailer. I will post some pictures of her, when I get them taken. This one dealer, hauls in a truck load of horses from out West to this sale. This filly came from Kansas. Think we should name her Dorothy?
Wow! The impulse-buy! Waiting to see the pics of the new addition!
congrats. Can't wait to see the pics.
I am so involved with my trap shooting, and going to tournaments, that I just don't have the time for one, for myself. I lost my Appaloosa gelding, having him for 17 years, two summers ago. As long as there are, a couple in the barn to mess around with, I am happy.
We talked over dinner about how we really need to get moving on the horse thing!
Thanks. Hopefully tomorrow, I will get some posted.
Yes, it will be a lot of fun, when you can ride together. I better hit the sack, got a shoot tomorrow...nite all.
I love trap shooting too. Haven't shot shotgun in a few years though.... Good luck at your shoot!
Have you though about fostering right now? Here, I'm told you are only resp for feed costs and can adopt if you want.
Not really. When I have my own place and extra room, I want to do a little good work through rescue, but right now, we have to make room and really need a good, stable safe and sound riding horse for ecurbh. We already have a pony we love and can't use, and in not ~too~ many years, we will also have a retired Bay and a new horse for myself.
Good morning! It is daylight and time to haul the rest of the hay into the barn. To haul hay and stack it you need a hay making drink, "Switchel." There are recipes in the post linked below.
Old-time drink switchel recalls early days spent cutting hay on the farm
Good Morning.
It is a beautiful morning here. We are going to go have breakfast in town shortly. I might try to ride a horse later this afternoon.
Cindy, how was your ride yesterday? I had a great ride on Rusty. I went to the one trail that is smooth and hardly any rocks but has some interesting curves, about 1/2 mile long, and gave him his head:) We had a glorious run thru the woods. What a rush:).
Hair: good picture of Bay.
Becky
Looking forward to pictures of the filly. Bay's are about my favorite color:) They can really shine.
Becky
Good morning! Lazy morning so far here
I didn't ride yesterday. Company. I did ride Sarah Lee for about 30 seconds today though :'(
