The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!

Posted on 09/18/2004 6:56:23 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Yes, it's wonderful to have them at home. Even when I can't ride I sit on the fence and watch them graze. They are so beautiful and peaceful. God really outdid himself when he made the horse.

I'm in chapter 12 which doesn't seem too active and I think 9. It's the one that covers Brownwood, since I spend time there too.

Yeah. I love to just sit and watch them. I told my husband that when we finally have our place, I want wall windows so I can see them outside from every room.

I turned on the news. Sounds like it's just a cold.

I worried about him running another 4 years.

Even if this is just a cold problem, I wonder how much trouble this will be. The media could really turn this into a mess.

Yeah, maybe. If respiratory it sounds more like flu or pnuemonia if he has shortness of breath though. I'm not worried about his duties . As long as he feels he's able I want him to remain VP. People voted for him knowing he has a health history.

My kids are decorating cookies. I had to supervise for a minute.

What's going on with Cheney?

He was taken to the hospital for shortness of breath. But he has a bad cold and that's what they think the problem is. Not his heart.

Well in one way that is better then continuing to harp about Cheney. I looked at MSNBC, and they were just doing their regular show. Headliners.

The more they continue to speculate and talk about worse case senirios the more this could turn bad. JMO.

I have had so much death around me lately. My grandfather (my last living grandparent) died a few months ago (old age). My uncle died a few weeks ago (cancer) My cousin's husband got out of bed late one night a few months ago, telling my cousin that he didn't feel good and went to lay down on the couch. She found him dead the next morning. (anyuresm, I think) An old friends husband had a heart attack and died last night, just got the news this morning.

Me too. I've been to 3 funerals in 2 weeks and there was another one while I was on vacation that if I had been home I'd have went too.

It's real cold. 61 and windy. Yall laugh but everyone around here dragging out the winter coats:') We have the heater on but Eddie has a fit when we turn it above 70 which means it's off. I had it at 80 last night. I was here by myself. They all came in gasping and opening windows. Cindy and I were real comfortable though:')

I'll whine with you - it's cold here, overcast, miserable
:( Husband is trying to catch a cold, the weather caused my fibro to flare up, I can hear my son saying now - would you like some cheese with that whine? This is Nevada, the sun is supposed to shine.

To all you ladies, check out the horsemans associations in the counties you live in and surrounding counties. You'll likely meet people who would love to ride with you. My husband rides several times a week with mostly ladies around here who feel more comfortable having a man ride with them.
