The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!

Posted on 09/18/2004 6:56:23 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

The person in my office and I moaning and groaning. I was blaming my aches on exercise and she was blaming it on an epidural. She asked me, "you think we could just be getting old"? We looked at each other a few seconds and then "Nah, pass the motrin, cold front coming":')

Motrin cures those weather induced aches and pains, that's for sure. Why did your friend have an epidural? Did she just have a baby?

Did you go back to that thread where I was getting flamed? Check it out if you get the chance. There was someone there on my side with a very compelling argument but that guy that was flaming me never would respond to him, even when he was directly asked a question.

Kittens where born sometime in the spring, cannot remember, seems so long ago. They are not turning out to be good mousers. They lost their mother early I think to a cow-o-tee (as my sons says) and never learned. That an getting to many leftovers leaves then full. The kids named them Krypto, Kryptyanna and Beautyanna. My son likes Superman and my daughter names everything some version of Ann or Anna :) I know, to much information.

That goat's name is Lemonade. She was a twin, 2 girls last spring 03. Her mom, an Alpine, named Shirley Temple, was visited by our neighbor's male pygmy (the father) during the holiday season (fa la la la la) through a hole in the fence. Their mom wouldn't nurse them for some reason so we got to have them in the house !!!! for about 3 weeks and bottle feed them. They where little, only a foot at most, fun.

What I don't understand is why we can't be involved in a lively debate with adults of differing views on issues without resorting to hateful posts and name-calling. There are quite a few freepers that should seek the services of a therapist instead of taking their aggressions out on strangers who mean no harm.

My dogs eat cat turds. What's up with that?

Well, another horse picture. but these three kitties will catch the mice and the moles, they will tear them apart, chew on them awhile and play with them then leave them on the garage floor or by a step - uneaten. Yuk. I don't think they ever acquired a taste for them or something.

Who knows? lol. My dalmation used to try to use the kitty box. I didn't like wiping the wall but it was cute until he started pawing it everywhere like a kitty.

"My dogs eat cat turds. What's up with that?"

Yes, just a lovely subject, I know. But we bought the kids a dog at the animal welfare in Naperville last October. She's a lop-so ap-so as the kids say, but she I think was in a good home and taken care of well before she got herself lost. She must have been lost for awhile because she had acquired this disgusting habit also, as we found out after we had her a week or so. She eventually stopped after 2 or 3 weeks even wanting to do this. We kept her on a leash to take her out, didn't let her go near it. During that time we found out you could get things to put in their food that they ate that would end up in their poops that would turn them off to wanting to eat it.

LOL, my dogs ALL eat horse poop:)

I've been told, and have wondered if it was true that the word "dog" is from an Indian word meaning "poop eater." You know if this is true?

I'm so glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read your post.

Do your dogs roll in varmints that have been dead for several days? What a stench!
