Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
I was a bit surprised that the people where I vote didn't ask for an ID, especially since in the registration book, Mack and I's name was followed by "Insufficent adress" We still had a Rt and Box number instead of a street adress. We got the papers to correct that. But then, our poll is soooooo small.....but the workers there didn't know me from adam.
I keep getting a lot of "yeah, yeah's" but I am so pleased that my county went red. I live in donkey country and I'm amazed. They liked GB and crossed over because dems took everything else when opposed.
We didn't start listening to the news that day till the polls started closing. But even the talking heads were talking about that the reporting was pretty boring for a long time. I switched over and was watching the reporting on the Peterson trial for awhile. I knew better then to get on FR:). I knew there would be alot of fretting that wouldn't help either way. Espeically after the reporting about the exit polls.

Here you only had to show ID if you didn't have your registration card. Things went mostly ok. My dem judge did try to yank my chain and get me to respond to some outragous comments though. I didn't know what to say. Finally I just looked at him and said " I was looking around at the team and trying to figure out who's who but I can tell right off that your a democrat". He started laughing and backed off and ok with me after that I guess.
The lady I talked to about filling out the paper to get our address changed made a big deal out of explaining about checking the right box on party affiliation. She said if we checked "other" we would automatically be listed as "democrat" I said pretty loud, "What". and she said Oh I mean independent. LOL. I don't know what all that meant, but she got pretty flustered.
Becky
You have to declare your party? In primaries we do but that's it. I'm independent and they put me with republicans for some reason. I guess I have to go somewhere:'
Good morning everyone,
Glorious day here, sun is shining and the mountains are all covered with snow. Hope you all have a great day.
Oh, I had to show ID, ladies at the polling place know me but it's required and I do everytime I vote. I'm so glad Nevada went Bush.
I've never had to show ID. It only makes sense that we should.
I think you have to declare your party for the primary elections.
Becky
Looks like Bush did pretty good on his news conference.
Becky
I agree. Something about him seemed more subdued or somber than I might have predicted... but he was sharp and very good.
We've got to get going now on some errands. We're having car issues!
OH my, that's not good.
We are actually having car issues too. The windows on my truck are ALL not working now, and they all quit working when they were down:). Right now the seats are soaking, and it gets cold driving now, so I'm not going to many places. But right now....I'm ready to stay home for awhile.

My other "horse" (my mustang) was shaking really bad on the left. I parked it until I could get it fixed and started driving my sons jeep. I really liked it because it didn't bottom out at the stables. He needed it when he got back to the states for awhile and I went back to the mustang. I drove it to work and noticed the tags out and last inspection was in 03. Wires were sticking out from the tires too. I'm all legal now though. Funny thing was that it was just the tires. It doesn't shake at all any more. I just have to get the top fixed now. The hail storm beat it really bad and it leaks too. Always something, huh?
What would yall use on a horse itching? Not mine but I'm just wondering.
Good morning.
Cindy, depends on why, where, condition of skin.
Becky
Mornin yall. Yea, it's Friday!
What a cutie!
It really depends, and it can be a little hard to figure out why they itch.
My pony goes through periods where she is rubbing alot and starts looking real moth eaten, and I am getting ready to have the vet out for checks of all of them and one of the things I want to have looked at is why.
This horse actually taking her back foot and hitting her belly to scratch. I didn't even know they could reach that area:'). I had to leave so I don't know what the owner did with her.
You know... with mares lots of times when they itch on their underside it is their udder. It gets gunked up with sweat and oil and dirt between the teats and itches like heck. When my pony needs washed there she will try to get it by rubbin' and kicking with her back legs, but what really brings relief (besides a bath) is standing over a good scratchy bush.
