Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
On a leather saddle you can twist the stirrups around and run a 2X4 through both stirrups on the saddle rack, and store it that way. They'll learn to stay turned and hang better. On synthetics, they may not be trainable that way, but usually synthetics aren't so stiff that they are a problem.
Great pics of both of your horses, the new palomino, and tuffie, and the old pony and the donkey and your other riding horses. I am glad to see and get to know them!
My name is Leanne. I don't have a horse, but I used to. He was a ex trotter named Jimmy.
Richard Shrake too. In the video, the horse always does what he wants on the first try... Watched the one called 'problem horses'.... same thing. Not one mis-step, not one mistake made. They dont' teach diddly about correcting problems ;~D
My mom sold my exhorse and dumped my dog. This was about 38 years ago. She thinks I really ought to let it go:')
You can get your horse to stop by leaning your weight back, lifting your chest and letting out your breath. My trainer makes me ride without reins sometimes. That's how I know.
:-)
I'll try that sometime (enclosed and with the reins "laid down" :')
Just getting started:')

Red reminds me of that drawing of the "perfect" horse yall posted from that old book.
No doorway
doorway!
There were complications and slowdowns so we didn't get both doors cut. The doorway into the third stall will be right past this one.
At least there are now doors at each end. Bay and pony can share this space now till we get their wall up in between.
He's gorgeous, and the advertisement is really good. Praying the perfect someone pops up.
Barn is looking good. Are you going to put kick panels on the insides of the stalls?
Yeah - they'll be lined all the way up with OSB. :~) When they're done ;~D
You've put a lot of work into those but you'll never regret it.
