Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
How cool. In there a way I can enlarge this?
Nice horse.
Reining horses are pretty awesome. Very few people in my experience have the ability to train one like that:)
The thing is, IMO, reining horses move the way one should, they don't have their nose in the ground, and they aren't so collected up that they look crippled. The last show I went to the reining horses were great, the Western Pleasure horses looked stupid. English Pleasure horses look more natural too.
Becky
Speaking of reining, please explain this to me. I always had problems with getting Okie and Sarah Lee to walk straight, either direct or neck reining. The trainer had me focus farther out where I was headed with my eyes. I don't see that I changed anything but all of the sudden we go straight. Why?
If you right click on it, you can save it. If you have a graphics program I think you can enlarge it. Save it to your desktop and then play with it.
Can I email my pics to you so you can add them to your collage? Neither my husband, nor I have been able to figure out how to post pics. Right now he's fixing me up a blog that you can link to but so far, that's as far as I've gotten. We'll figure it out eventually...
Sure, I think I can do that. I am not a computer guru but I love playing with graphics.
Did you get set up with york?
Do you want to send me your email address privately?
Yes, I did, but I couldn't get it to accept some of my pics. My husband had set up a program for me that found all of my lost pics on my computer. Worked like a charm but I haven't figured out yet how to get them to York.
I don't know what's going on now. I've sent tons of pics via email and now it's not letting me do it. It's kinda been one of those days....
I'll keep working on it.
I'm having a day like that too - I think it's something in the air. (well, that's my excuse) For some reason, today I'm getting red X's on some of the pictures I have seen before. I can't get them to open anywhere yet that I've found.
Are they jpeg, jpg or gif?
It's kind of hard for me to explain but when you download you have to transfer them to york. On my computer another "cannon" site pops up. York hid behind it. Then you click your camera type and then choose your pictures. After they come up thumb size on the lower left click in the right corner of the small size picture you want then click on the picture to enlarge. Once up hit load (under the small pics). See how many you have checked first though because it takes time and I often duplicate. If you don't get to a part that asks album to save to and then congrats it won't be saved by York. There is probably an easier way but then I have to close and reopen york to get to my new album.
I have a little bit of everything. I'm never sure exactly what I'm doing so I have a hodgepodge.
My husband just got home so I'm going to have him read your instructions. It's all greek to me.
Remember Greek new to me too,ok?:') The guys had to show me "over and over" I had more problems in york than getting there though. If yall run in to problems getting the pictures to load you may want to start over. Sometimes I have to just turn my camera off and back on. Also, do you have the window where you can see pics on your camera? Mine does and it has to be on the pics taken to work.
I'm soooo confuuuussssed My brain is on overload, looook out, she's gonna blow!! KABLOOOIEEEEE
Here lies Brenda's brain
On it, she did try to train
It was finally too much
It was full of such and such
Now, all that's on it is a crane.
Ooooo Thank you!! That's Mandy, my oldest daughter, and her new Palomino mare Winnie. I searched high and low for that gentle horse and so far all I've found is that she can be herd bound but we are managing it. I bought her from www.topstepfarms.com (I think that's the right address)
