Please give details for those who are Fox-challenged
Glenna Whitley, author of Stolen Valor. Story in 1988. Interviewed peopl presented as soldiers who spoke of unbelievable atrocities. Filed FOIA request. Found out all but one were lying about what they had done. A simple check CBS could have done.

On June 2, 1988, CBS aired an hour-long special titled CBS Reports: The Wall Within,
The The Wall Within was hailed by critics who like the Washington Post's Tom Shales gushed that the documentary was "extraordinarily powerful." There was just one problem: Almost none of it was true.
She and her co-author went to CBS and CBS stonewalled. Glenna says CBS said they stood by their story. TO this day, do they stand by that story. Glenna, said yes. Linda says current CBS execs decline to comment.
Just heard on ABC Radio News 1:00 PM update - General Staudt (Killian's supervisor who retired a yaer and a half before his name appeared in rather's forged memos) had weighed in, denying all the allegations in the memos. He said no one put pressure on him to accept Bush into the TANG, and that he never pressured anyone to pretty up Bush's evals.
But it will sell better with women if linda moves the story forward on this outrageous FRAUD that Rather has been pushing for DECADES!
Joe Yendle, Vietnam Vet, committed murder, said he was a heroin addict because of atrocities he did in Vietnam. CBS did a piece on this, victim of Vietnam, man released from prison. We filed a FOIA for his military record. He was a clerk in Okinawa. NEVER IN VIETNAM. Went to 60 mintues. They never did anything about it. We became convinced they would ignore. We went to 20/20, and they did a good piece about it. Only then did Mike Wallace respond.
doh!
Ahhh. There is the story. Even though "The Wall Within" has been shown to be fabricated, even 16 years later, CBS still stands by it. This is relevent in the context of understanding how CBS reacts to being proved wrong.
Great news!
Likely story. Who are you going to believe, some General who doesn't hate Bush or some forged documents ?
yes....
I had the Friday F-its anyway.
Liz Trotta on. She was on the other day with O'Reilly, I think. CBS will block any criticism because Dan is the BRAND for the network. First tendency is to stonewall because you've got a lot to lose.
Point well taken.....
Dan is on the way out, Liz Trotta says. Audience says CBS should reveal source, launch investigation. Yes, people should lose their jobs if shoddy work. The audience was CBS to go down in flames!
Hi Foo!....More great news, but CBS still doesn't get it....Maybe it's because the only news their people are allowed to listen to is their own....Sort of product loyalty and all......;^)

People applaud when email is read the viewer will not believe CBS again until Dan Rather is FIRED!
