I have a good friend diagnosed with Alzhiemers last year (age 53). She had to retire from nursing early because of her forgetfulness, but wants to return fulltime. This will be really great news for her.!!!

From the following site:

In the editorial, Friedland provides several mechanisms in which fish intake may reduce the risks of AD. The following six areas do not represent the total listing:

Long-chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and docosahexaenoic acid (omega-3 fatty acids) are found in lower concentrations within the brain tissue of those suffering with AD.
PUFA’s have the capability to reduce irregular heart beats, decrease inflammation, and decrease the risk of atherosclerosis.
Consumption of fish and vegetable oils reduce the serum triglyceride and cholesterol levels.
They may also increase the good cholesterol. PUFA’s may directly lower the deposition of amyloid-B protein.
It has been shown to increase transthyretin expression 10 fold. This has also been shown to reduce the concentration levels of amyloid-B proteins.
