Today my wife dragged me to Stop&Shop in Milford, Massachusetts. On the way in I noticed a table with a sign "New England Outreach" at the entrance to the store. A woman was sitting at the table. She looked as if she was collecting money for a charity. "Outreach" is a word the do-gooders use to tug at our heartstrings (or is it our pursestrings? The voters in Massachusetts voted to allow themselves to deduct charitable contributions from their state income taxes. The Democrats in the legislature took about a day to reverse that because they were unwilling to restrain their profligate spending. They also voted to raise the state income tax rate of 5.00% approved by the voters back to 5.30%.)
One the way out I assumed the table was collecting funds to help the homeless or those addicted to drugs or alcohol, so I put my hand into my pocket. Then I saw the woman was actually collecting funds and selling Kerry-Edwards paraphernalia. I pushed the bills deeper into my pocket, leaned over and stated, "When you are as full of shyte as the Democrats, you need two Johns." The woman didn't like my comment.
She apparently has permission from Stop&Shop to set up her table there. We will be shopping at some other store next week.
I wonder if the owners of Stop & Shop are aware that their in-store staff is allowing customers to be chased away...
I sent a message to Stop&Shop via their website.
